Container volume increased at Chinese ports

Chinese ports handled 270.6 million TEU in the period from January to November 2022 and the Port of Shanghai remains the country's busiest container port (Photo: en.portshanghai.com.cn).
Chinese ports had seen a sharp decrease in traffic, due to Covid-19 and vague differences in the epidemic, but the latest data shows a traffic increase of +4.2%
According to data from the Ministry of Transport of China, over the period from January to November 2022 Chinese ports handled 270.6 million TEU, which represents an increase of +4.2% compared to the same period of 2021.
The port of Shanghai remains the most active container port with 43.19 million TEU (+0.3%), followed by the port of Ningbo & Zhoushan with 31.26 million TEU (+7.8%) then the port of Shenzhen with 26.84 million TEU (+2.3%).
Yinkou Port (+19.9%) and Dalian Port (+19.9%) followed best performance in terms of year-on-year growth in container volume of Beibu Gulf (+15.7%) and the port of Rizao (+13.8%).
