Capespan wants to develop on the Chinese and Indian markets

Neil Oosthuizen, Chief Executive Officer, wishes to multiply the activities and to develop the sourcing of fresh products in Asia.
In conditions of difficult markets all over the world, the group Capespan, one of the world leaders in the marketing of fresh fruit, has just presented its results.
After a record financial result in 2008, the profit 2009 before taxes is 113, 3 m of Rand, subordinate of 45,9 % in that of the year 2008 which had reached 209,3 m of Rand.
Income knew a 5,9 % increase, owed mainly to the Division Fruits.
The Logistic Division represents 52,3 % of the result . On 13 companies of the Group, 3 were in deficit, certain took up with the profitability, and the others knew a strong growth, as Fisher Capespan, Metspan in Far East and Matola Cargo Terminal ( MCT) with 67,8 %.
"In 2010, we intend to conclude our plans of expansion in the markets of Chinese and Indian fruits. It will be necessary to invest to give the boost to the development of our sourcing of fresh products outside South Africa” declared the Chief Executive Officer, Neil Oosthuizen.
"In the Logistic Division, there are numerous possibilities of developing in the related business sectors, as the services of storing and distribution. The strategy in terms of future services of transport will be carefully studied. "
