EU continues to encourage European schoolchildren to adopt healthy eating habits

The European Commission has announced € 250 million for school fruit, vegetable and milk programs for the 2019/20 school year.  €105 million is devoted to the program for milk and milk products and €145 million to the fruit and vegetable program.

 

 

 

Millions of children across the EU will receive milk and fruit and vegetables as part of the EU program for schools in 2019/2020. This distribution program will be complemented by educational measures aimed at familiarizing children with agriculture and promoting healthy eating.

 

 

 

During the 2017/18 school year more than 20 million children in 159,000 schools benefited from this program. A total of 255 500 tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables and 178 million liters of milk were distributed to European children with over €182 million in EU budget funding.
