Poor performance for fruit exports in Q1 2016.
ABRAFRUTAS (Associação Brasileira dos Produtores e exporters of Frutas e Derivados) published the data for the 1st half of 2016. Negative variations of -5.40% in value and -6.66% in volume compared to Q1 2015.
These lower performance resulting from a combination of factors that disrupted the production. Bad weather, erratic rains in some areas and drought in others, political and uncertain economic environment.
However, professionals are optimistic and confident for the second half of 2016. The second part of the year still recorded a volume of higher exporations and the sector plans to reach or get close to the amount of USD 809 million exported last year.
