Brazil attending the Fruit Logistica Berlin 2009 for the 7th time

“Brazil is preparing to complete the 7th Brazilian participation at the Fruit Logistica 2009 in Berlin. Since 2003 there have been a growing number of Brazilian companies and consequently the results in business. In 2008 Brazil had 52 companies participating, and for 2009 they are expecting almost 60 companies.” Says the spokesman of the Ibraf.
The Ibraf is the Brazilian Fruit Institute; a non-profitable private organization, representative entity of this sector. The Ibraf was founded with the objective of supporting technical development, besides proceeding to market studies, promoting fruit and its by-products business opportunities.
The booth in the Berlin Fruit Logistica will be 20% bigger than last year but for the first time the Brazil’s stand will have a second floor for individual meetings.
The whole fruitbasket will be represented: Brazilians Melons, Watermelons, Pineapples, Apples, Grapes, Mangos, Papaya, Lime, Orange, Banana, Guava, Figs, Peaches, Barbados Cherry, Anonas, Loquat, Nectarine, Persimmons, Plums, Tropical Avocado, Kumquat, Cashew, Fresh Coconut, Strawberries, Ginger, Eddo’s, Cush-Cush Yam, Star fruit, Sweet Potato, Pumpkins Kabocha.
Despite the international economy crisis , Ibraf will continue it’s efforts to conquer new markets for Brazilian fruits, promoting the brand “Brazilian Fruit” as synonymous of quality. Brazilian fruits export still increasing. From January to October the fresh fruit exports had a growth of 13% in value, comparing with the same period of 2007. This increment is a result of the increase of some fruits, such as: melon (+29%), mango (+28%), lime (+19%), apple (+18%) and watermelon (+40%).
