San Miguel extends internationally

The Argentinean company San Miguel Ltd. extends more and more its activities in multiple countries.

San Miguel Ltd. is based in Tucumán region of  Argentina where the company exploits 5,600 hectares. In recent years, San Miguel has started an investment process to start producing in other countries. The company owns 1,500 hectares in Uruguay and 400 hectares of sweet citrus (oranges, mandarins and grapefruits) plantations in South Africa. Last year San Miguel acquired a 35% interest in a processing plant in South Africa (processing capacity of 60,000 tons of fruit per year).

The perspectives for 2013 are good, the decline in production in the northern hemisphere risk to cause development of exports. Starting from Argentina, but also countries where the company operates, Uruguay and South Africa.

Producer, processor and distributor of citrus and derived products , San Miguel Ltd. packs 1,900 tons of citrus and transforms 2500 tonnes of fruit per day in its Argentine sites. Its sales in 2012 totaled up to 938.7 million $, +14% compared to the previous year.
