Croatia, organic production on the rise

According to statistics provided by the Croatian government, the number of agricultural companies registered as devoted to organic produce cultivations in Croatia has recently began to grow reaching 369 producers cultivating over 22.000 ha of farming land. At the same time, demand of organic foods is relevantly on the rise.
The Croatian Ministry of Agriculture is providing incentive pays for the cultivation of organic agricultural fields amounting 3.000 Kune (around 400 euros) per hectare, which is a double amount compared to the traditional production.
This is part of the efforts made by the Croatian government to reach the European production standards of this sector.
