Growth in volume and value for Turkish citrus exports

Good performance for Turkish citrus exports which grew by + 8% in value, mandarins lead the ranking with $141.8 million (Photo: fruitsfromturkey.com).
In Turkey, citrus exports have just recorded good performances, with an increase in volume (+ 6%) and in value (+ 8%) during the first 4 months of the year 2021 compared to the same period of 2020. Mandarin and lemon are leading exports.
For the first 4 months of the year 2021 Turkish citrus exports exceeded in value $343.3 million, that is to say + 8% compared to the same period of 2020. The export of tangerine brought in $141.8 million, export of lemon $119.3 million, export of grapefruit $46.1 million and export of orange $35.7 million.
In volume exports during this period amounted to 653,302 tonnes according to data from the Association of Mediterranean Exporters. The two provinces of the eastern Mediterranean, Mersin (241,214 tonnes) and Hatay (145,601 tonnes) stand out for their contribution to exports.
"In the January-April period, citrus exports increased by 8% in value and 6% in volume compared to the same period last year. This progression will continue in the days and seasons to come. "said Kemal Kaçmaz, president of the National Citrus Council. Stating that the sector is continuing its efforts to increase exports, in particular with the opening of new markets.
