Asia hosts the International Strawberry Symposium for the first time, taking place in China.
Bringing together over 1,000 scientists and agricultural experts, the International Strawberry Symposium, opened in Beijing and runs through Feb. 22.
Symposium participants from around the world came to share the latest technology for strawberry cultivation, exchange ideas and cooperate.
At the opening ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister of China reported the importance of strawberry production in China. The
increased production supported by better technology will help China modernise its agricultural sector and help farmers increase their income.
Initiated by the International Society for Horticultural Science in 1988, the Symposium is organised every four years. It can take stock of recent achievements, production, develop leads and prospects in the sector's future.
