Hermanos Fernández consolidates all its distribution activities

A subsidiary of Spain's Orsero Group, Hermanos Fernandez achieved sales of EUR 361 million in 2023, with around 270,000 tonnes distributed. 

 

Bananas and plantains remain its main category, with around 120,000 tonnes ripened and distributed. 

"We're expanding with exotic fruits, seedless grapes and imported fruits in general," reports Christophe Laffon, Hermanos Fernandez sales director.

 

The group distributes to supermarket chains as well as independent wholesalers and retailers, through its 14 sales outlets in Mercabarna (Barcelona), as well as its presence in the wholesale markets of Lleida, Sabadell, Madrid, Alicante, Seville and Tenerife.

 

"We are continuing to consolidate the organic division and hope to break even in 2024, thanks to direct programs with productions such as bananas from the Canary Islands", says Christophe Laffon. 

 

The Orsero Group expects to increase its sales by 29% to EUR 1.55 billion in 2023, compared with EUR 1.196 billion in 2022. Present in 8 countries, the group has around 3,000 employees and 2,000 suppliers, distributing around 800,000 tonnes of fruit.
