In the current export season of Tahiti lemon, which began in September 2022 and will end in August 2023, Peru exported 10,689,907 kilos of said fruit for $11,159,361, reports Fernando Cillóniz Benavides, the president of the consultancy firm Informacción.
The main destination countries are Latin America, with 4,011,225 kilos for $3,114,907; Europe, with 3,965,647 kilos for $4,549,150; and North America, with 2,713,035 kilos for $3,495,303. Chile continues to be the main importer of the fruit.
The president points out that in the entire 2021/22 season, Peruvian Tahiti lemon shipments totaled 20,844,805 kilos for $21,025,533. Shipments to Latin America totaled 10,656,662 kilos for $8,435,796, while Europe bought 5,132,235 kilos for $5,970,216 and North America received 5,055,908 kilos for $6,619,520.
