Oranges, lemons and mandarins in Russian market in 2nd week of September
Russia
Saturday 15 September 2007
The situation was restrained by large stocks from previous arrivals which were sold on 0,835 US$/kg level. In the meantime fresh oranges were offered on 0,94 US$/kg in Saint-Petersburg but the demand was not active. Though in Moscow the prices went up to 1,02 US$/kg the availability of large quantities of “old” oranges has shifted the interest of traders on that side. All the above concerned South African fruit. Argentine oranges despite of reasonable quality couldn’t exceed 0,78 US$/kg level.
The prices were softly increasing. The level of 1,00 US$/kg was reached in week 36. As the qualitative stuff is less and less on the market, the demand was focused on quality.
The quantity of mandarins in fresh arrivals is declared on level of 2000 tons. The question is which part of it conforms to the market requirement as the demand stays on quality side.
