Prunes of Agen in competition with Chilean production

The suppression of the custom duties between Europe and Chile as soon as January 2003, which will lead to a drop in Chilean prunes' price, frightens French growers. Indeed, the region of Agen, which produces 65% of the whole French production, fears the Chilean competition in that field : Chile already produces prunes 20% cheaper than the French ones.
