The Producers Association (Union of Orchard Owners) predicts for the current Iranian year (until the end of March 2014) an increase of its production of citrus. Total production (oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, lemons) will reach 7 million tons from which 4 million tons of oranges.
The orange harvests will begin in December and will continue until May. Iran was classified last year as the 7th in the world ranking of citrus producers. The country occupies the first place for the production of pomegranates and pistachio, the 3d for dates and cherries, the 4th for apples and nuts.
