First shipments of Colombian Hass avocado arrived in South Korea

As reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of Colombia, the first 1.6 tons of Hass avocado arrived in South Korea. Colombian avocado gained access to this market in March 2021. The first export was made by Cartama: they sent 288 boxes of Hass avocado by air.

Minister Zea Navarro specified that thanks to the ‘Health Diplomacy’ strategy, they have achieved 47 admissibility of agricultural products to 23 countries.

South Korea is a strategic point in the Asian continent, since between 2016 and 2020 imports of the fruit from this country increased by 252%, which evidences the potential of this market.

In addition, South Korea has established itself as the fifth largest importer of this fruit in Asia.

The growth was achieved thanks to the inter-institutional work between ICA, ProColombia, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, the Foreign Ministry, and international diplomatic representations.
