Malaysia presents new papaya variety

Exotica is a new papaya variety with an especially aromatic taste. The product is being presented at FRUIT LOGISTICA for the first time at the Malaysia stand organised by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority. Additional highlights include jumbo-size jackfruit and dragon fruit with red pulp. Up until now, fruit exports from Malaysia to Europe have enjoyed an annual volume of ten to twelve million euros and are sold primarily to Dutch wholesalers, explains K. Palasuberniam, Agriculture Counsellor for the Malaysian embassy in The Hague. He says Malaysia is taking part in the trade show to increase its export volume, adding that many fruit growers are interested in establishing direct trade contacts to supply individual EU countries.
