The Almerian horticultural sector reports losses
Spain
Wednesday 07 May 2003
It seems that the Almerian horticultural sector in Andalusia has lost 250 million Euro during this campaign compared with the one of 2001-2002. This loss could be explained by the strong competition from the Third Countries, outside EU, that propose cheap fruit and vegetables. Local productions, tomatoes and sweet peppers in particular, are hence not cost-effective.
