Kiwi : the disease came from China

Scientific research has unveiled that the origin of the disease ravaging kiwifruit orchards of New Zealand comes from China.

A team of scientists from the University of Otago compared the genomes of different strains of the disease and their report indicates that the genomes from China and New Zealand are very similar.

The epidemic came from China "through an intermediary unknown." The research excluded previously expected Italy as a cause.
