Growers from Sardinia offer premium seedless melons and watermelons
OP Agricola Campidanese is a growers organization based in Sardinia in Italy, formed by around 30 growers, whose average annual production volume reaches 20.000 tons.
“Our production comes from up to 1000 hectares, and we have two main activities: winter work when we produce artichokes, and summer work when we produce melons and watermelons. The melon and watermelon season starts in May and lasts until September. The artichoke season is from October to May.”, says Marco Lotta, Purchasing Manager.
“We are trying to export artichokes to more countries and educate people how to eat and cook them. Our package has a QR code which links to a page with recipes in German, English, and French.”, continues the manager.
“During the summer we are focused on mini- and medium size premium seedless watermelons. We also offer Piel de Sapo melons produced in Sardinia, and a new variety called Corallo whose flavor is a mix of Piel de Sapo and Cantaloupe varieties, and it has a shelf life of up to 30 days."
