The P & O PORTS group has been chosen to manage and develop the container terminal at the Port of Sète. The contract was signed in the Dubai Emirate on July 11th, 2017 in the presence of Rado Antolovic CEO of P & O PORTS, the representative of Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem and the president of the Port of Sète Jean Claude Gayssot.
The concession of the container terminal confirms P & O PORTS 'ambition to diversify its portfolio in a medium-sized port by wanting to position Sète as a niche player in the development of feeder exchanges with the rest of the world and more particularly in Africa, The Maghreb and the Middle East.
With 14.5m draft, 4 berths, 4 Ro-Ro substations, 140 refrigerated container sockets, a 23,000m² fruit terminal on board, an AP + system in operation and dedicated land Containers at the Port of Sète has some serious assets that the P & O PORTS Group has decided to upgrade by setting up there.
The objective of the port of Sète and the Region is to meet the needs of a territory that now has more than 6 million inhabitants with the new region of Occitania. In line with a logic of modal shift, the port of Sète intends to support this development with the establishment of rail and river services to effectively connect the port to its hinterland.
