Fruit, vegetable exports increase by 3.13% and 12.29% in USA

The export of fruit and vegetables from the country registered an increase of 3.13 percent and 12.29 percent respectively in last eight months compared to the same period last year.
The figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistic, said the export of fruit increased by 3.13 percent in July-March 2008-09 as compared to the same period of the corresponding year.
The export of vegetables also remained on increasing track as the export of the commodity was increased by 12.29 percent compared with the same period of last year.
The export of fruit during the last eight months of current financial year from July-March was recorded about 366,608 metric tonnes with a total cost of US$125.847 million as compared to 350,658 metric tonnes of the commodity export costing US$122.022 million during July-March 2007-08.
