Georgia records an increase in its exports of peaches, hazelnuts and apples (Photos: gov.ge).
Georgia, a country located on the east coast of the Black Sea in the Caucasus, has published some results of its agricultural exports.
According to published data, Georgia exported 24,788 tonnes of peaches and nectarines, an increase of 87% from the previous year. Peach exports brought in $ 20.8 million, an increase of 68% over the previous year.
This year's hazelnut harvest was bountiful and of high quality. The country, as of September 24, exported 4,466 tons of hazelnuts. Volume exceeding last year's exports by 74% for the same period. The export markets of Georgian hazelnuts are mainly composed of EU countries, with Germany (1392.9 tonnes), Italy (808.8 tonnes), Czech Republic (280.3 tonnes), Spain (165 tonnes), Poland (192 tonnes), France (125 tonnes), Lithuania (143.7 tonnes), Greece (34.7 tonnes), Austria (22 tonnes), Estonia (22 tonnes), Latvia (21 tonnes).
Georgia, as of September 24, exported 1,054 tonnes of apples. This represents a volume exceeding last year's exports by 832 tonnes (+ 375%) for the same period. These good results can be explained by the planting of 1,128 hectares of orchards as part of the 'Plant the Future' program.
