Bananas: Decline in volume and value for Iranian imports

Iran imports bananas mainly from Turkey and India. These 2 countries represent 81% of the total imports made by Iran (Photo: tehrantimes.com).
Local media reports that Iranian banana imports reached USD 374.48 million at the end of the 2022-23 fiscal year which ended on March 20, 2023.
That is a variation of -7% in volume and -5% in value compared to the previous financial year.
The Iranian customs administration specifies that these imported bananas mainly come from Turkey (332,000 tonnes) and India (130,000 tonnes). These 2 countries represent 81% of the total imports made by Iran.
The other supplier countries are the Philippines with 63,000 tonnes and Pakistan with 43,000 tonnes and, for lesser tonnages, Ecuador, China and Colombia.
