After weeks of closure to prevent the spread of the virus, the border between China and Vietnam has been opened. In a few days the average daily number of vehicles exceeded that recorded the year before.
Hundreds of trucks arriving at the border crossing in Dongxing, an autonomous region of Guangxi Zhuang in southern China, show the resumption of trade on the Sino-Vietnamese border after the COVID-19 epidemic. To further facilitate the entry of Vietnamese products into the Chinese market, Dongxing Customs has renovated the border control infrastructure. A high-tech package has just been put into service, reducing the inspection time to 30 minutes per vehicle.
ASEAN, the association of Southeast Asian Nations, has become China's largest trading partner in the first 2 months of the year, with the combined trade volume increasing by 2% to 594.1 billion yuan (about $85.68 billion), according to official data.
