The Sunraysia region, located in the north of the state of Victoria and the south of the state of New South Wales, is an important region for the production of Australian table grapes.
The 2022 season promises to be exceptional for table grape producers in the Sunraysia region. Harvesting has been underway since mid-January. The volume that will be produced this season will be higher than the previous season and the demand from foreign customers is very high.
The exported volume is mainly intended for the Chinese market. China now represents more than half of the 220,000 tonnes of grapes exported by the region.
Although the producers of the region consider China as an essential market which has made it possible to invest and develop, some professionals, while increasing their sales in the existing markets, have succeeded in diversifying the destinations with South Korea, the Japan, Indonesia, Singapore and the Middle East.
Australian table grape exports were worth more than AUSD 660 million (USD 484.5 million) in 2021.
