Ecuador plans to increase its exports by entering into new markets.
Ecuador, first world exporter of bananas, estimate that its exports are going to exceed 2,1 billion dollars this year.
In spite of a decline of sales at the world level during the first four months of the year, Ecuador plans 2,1 billion dollars of export this year, that is 17 % more than last year.
To achieve this performance, the exporters expect that agreements are signed to open new markets in Iran, in Libya and in China.
"If the government deals with these countries, we could export 10 million boxes of bananas a year, and arrive at 2,1 billion dollars in 2010 " indicated Eduardo Ledesma, Manager of the AEBE, association of bananas exporters.
