The presence of Hepatitis A was confirmed in frozen raspberries from Chile and exported to the United States, according to the Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela. The berries were marketed under the James Farms Chile brand, which were exported by the Chilean company Compramar, which, as a result, had to withdraw 1,260 boxes of raspberries.
The infection was confirmed by tests conducted by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
According to the FDA, these berries were sold in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Virginia.
The entity alerted buyers not to consume the product, to discard it or return it to the point of sale for a refund.
At the same time, the FDA noted that to date there have been no reports of illnesses or adverse reactions related to this product.
