Increase of the harvest expectations

The harvest expectations are in increase in spite of a bad weather report since the beginning of spring.
According to the first estimations of harvests of stone fruits, Catalonia is going to produce approximately 320.000 tons of peaches, nectarines and Pavie which is 3 % more than last year.
The forecasts, given by the Ministry Office of Agriculture in Lleida show that the 320000 tons produced will include: 132 100 tons of peaches, 58 350 tons of nectarines and 129 400 tons of Pavie.
Considering the decline of the production last year because of the hail, the Ministry describes as normal the harvest of this year.
Catalonia will increase its production of 3 % stone fruits on average. It will belong in increase of 6 % to Lleida, in decline of 6 % to Tarragona, in decline of 5 % in Barcelona and 15 % to Gerona.
Spain is the second at the European level for the production of stone fruits with approximately 1,2 million produced tons.
