Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture has decided to stop exports to the EU for some products : basil, pepper , melon, celery and cilantro.
The decision to suspend some exports is one way to take the lead against a more severe penalty.
Indeed, Vietnamese products "under surveillance" from 1 February 2014 until 15 February 2015 , when 5 cases of breaches of food safety are identified, the EU will adopt a ban on all Vietnamese imports.
Since February the EU recorded three cases of contamination by bacteria, on the Vietnamese basil and melons . If two other cases are discovered before February 15, 2015 all Vietnamese products may not be exported to the European market.
