French, Spanish and Italian prepare the campaign for peaches and nectarines

Catalonia Qualitat and the French and Italian associations represent 50 % of the European production.
Catalonia Qualitat, Catalan Association of the producers of fruit, has organized in Barcelona a meeting of producers' main organizations of France and Italy to establish a workgroup to prepare the campaign 2010.
This meeting between Catalonia Qualitat, the Association of producers' organizations peaches and nectarines of France, and the Italian CSO, grouped the representatives of more than 50 % of the European production of fruit with nuclei.
This meeting underlined the determination of associations to play an active role in the management of the market, for example in the preparation of the meeting planned with the fruit and vegetables Committee of Brussels March 12th.
Regulations, OGM, mechanisms of regulation, preventions of the crises will be discussed.
Manuel Simon, Manager of Catalonia Qualitat insisted on the fact that Europe could lose a part of its production because of the increasing abandonment of plantations in Italy and in France after the weakness of the prices of the last season.
