Avocado exports increases 300%

After declines in 2010, the region of Tucumán has recovered its avocado production and exports to record an increase of 300%.
This year has led to recovey for the region of Tucumán, Argentina. 2010 production had declined by 99% compared to 2009 with minimal volumes exported are minimal. On the contrary, until September 2011, the region exported 88 tons of avocados, representing a 300% increase compared to 2010.
In September 2011 the region of Tucumán produced nearly 722 tons of avocados. After several years of downward trends (US$ 818/tn), prices have risen to $US 1.034/tn.
