Extreme heat last month has reduced the apple harvest in some South Australian orchards by up to 20 per cent.
South Australian Apple and Pear Growers Association president Michael Nicol says sunburnt fruit will either be left on the ground or juiced.
He says this year's picking started earlier than usual because of the heat.
"There has been a bit of a hurry up in Galas, and I would suspect, right across the whole range of varieties, because of that heat that we had in February."
