MedFEL : GIF and GIL for Tunisian Fruits and Vegetables

Tunisian organizations GIF (Interprofessional Fruits Group) and GIL (Internprofessional Vegetables Group) are present at MedFEL 2016.

The aim is to promote Tunisian products to European operators attending the event. Agricultural exports are essential for the Tunisian economy. The country recorded a 5 times increase in exports between 2004/5 and 2013/14 from 12 058 tonnes to 56 000 tonnes exported. Quantity exports are concentrated on 4 products: tomatoes, watermelon, potatoes and salad.

For the new campaign, the combination of fruit exports reached 630 tonnes (at 04.25.2016) already an increase over the 157 tonnes exported at the same date last year. The 1st destinations are Libya (233 tonnes) Italy (113 tons) and France (109 tonnes).
