There were practically no national peaches on market past year because of severe frosts in winter 2005-2006, which injured trees. Imported peach was sold for the price starting from US$2/kg on Ukrainian markets. There is pretty lot of imported peaches on the country market now, but Ukrainian orchardists are also actively selling their products. However, peach suffered from spring frosts. The sellers are happy with the fact that the increased peach supply comparing to the previous year has not resulted in the significant price decline. In the whole, the price is on the past year level; however, it is possible to buy cheaper the shipments of the medium quality. Most shipments of peaches are sold for US$2-2.4/kg on the wholesale markets of Ukraine.
Peach orchards are among three leaders as for the rates of new orchards establishment. Past year Ukraine imported more than 18.000 tons of peaches, in 2005 - more than 10.000 tons of this fruit.
