In the United States, imports from Latin America in fiscal year 2022 are expected to increase from the forecast made in February.
According to estimates from the USDA (United States Agricultural Department), imports from Latin America in fiscal year 2022 are expected to increase by USD 2.2 billion from the initial forecast to reach USD 20.1 billion.
Mexico is by far the top supplier to the US market, but imports from other Latin American countries are increasing their share of the US market. Thus imports from Brazil are expected to increase by USD 900 million compared to previous estimates, imports from Chile are expected to increase by USD 200 million, imports from Colombia are expected to increase by USD 300 million, imports from Peru are expected to increase by 600 million USD.
At the top of the ranking of fresh fruits imported by the United States are berries, avocados, bananas, grapes and pineapples.
