Berry production increased by 35%

According to data collected from regional ministries of agriculture, in Russia berry production reached a volume 35% higher than last year on the same date.
The Ministry of Agriculture announces that the Russian production, on August 4, amounted to 10,800 tons. This is a volume 35% higher than that achieved last year on the same date (8,000 tonnes).
The main types of berries grown in the country are strawberries, currants, raspberries, gooseberries, sea buckthorn and blueberries and honeysuckle. The main berry growing regions are Kabardino-Balkaria, Altai, Lipetsk, Krasnodar and Moscow
According to the ministry, the state program for agricultural development has contributed to the increase in production indicators. Growth in production will make it possible to respond better to domestic consumption.
