Mercadona overtakes sales of 'El Corte Inglés

Mercadona supermarkets have better withstood the crisis and have increase their turnover.
Mercadona has better resisting the crisis and increasing its sales.
Mercadona has now overheaded El Corte Inglés in sales for the first time in its history, with a turnover of 16.448 billion euros or 670 million more than the department store chain El Corte Inglés in the year 2011.
The 1383 Mercadona stores increased their sales by 7.9% while El Corte Inglés recorded a decline in sales of 3.9%, reaching 15.778 billion.
Despite this decline, El Corte Inglés still ranks with European stores Marks & Spencer, John Lewis Partnership and Galeries Lafayette.
