Severe drop (-44.16%) in the volume of apples exported by Iran

Iran exported 550,000 tons of apples in the 11 months to February 19. That is a variation of -44.16% compared to the 985,000 tonnes exported during the previous Iranian calendar year (Photo: en.ifif.ir).
In Iran the area dedicated to the cultivation of apples reaches 247,000 hectares, with a production of about 4 million tons. But apple exports fell -44.16% in volume over the past calendar year.
According to Dariush Salempour, head of the non-tropical fruit department at the Ministry of Agriculture, Iran's apple exports reached 550,000 tons in the 11 months to February 19.
This is a variation of -44.16% compared to the 985,000 tonnes exported during the previous Iranian calendar year which ended at the end of March 2022.
Total Iranian production in the year to March 20 had reached almost 4 million tons of apples, down 7% from the previous year, due to damage caused by a cold spell.
The Ministry of Agriculture pointed out that the restrictions that existed on apple exports have been removed since the beginning of April.
