In the context of its 60th anniversary, TC Fruits is consolidating its position as one of the leading companies in the production and marketing of fruit worldwide. With a presence in more than 30 countries and a strong commitment to quality and sustainability, the company has been able to adapt and evolve over the decades. In this interview, Pilar González, CEO of TC Fruits, talks about the company's achievements, international expansion, technological innovations and next steps.
Fructidor: TC Fruits is a company with a 60-year history in the sector. What has this journey been like and what milestones would you highlight?
Pilar González: That's right, TC Fruits was born in 1964, and since then we have not stopped growing. Throughout these six decades, we have gone through an evolutionary process that has allowed us to establish ourselves in the sector and expand internationally. Currently, we have a physical presence in several countries such as Spain, Portugal, Egypt, Peru and Poland, and we carry out import and export activities in more than 30 countries. This has been possible thanks to a constant business growth and the continuous improvement of our facilities, material resources and human capital.
Fructidor: In terms of infrastructure, what are the latest improvements you have implemented?
Pilar González: One of the most significant improvements has been the creation of a new ripening area for bananas and plantains. This space is equipped with the best technology available to ensure that our products reach the consumer in optimal conditions. In addition, we have expanded our facilities and resources to continue to meet growing demand and improve our processes.
Fructidor: TC Fruits has developed its own brands for some of its products, could you tell us more about this?
Pilar González: Indeed, we have developed our own brands for certain key products in our production. For example, “Raíces” is our brand for kiwifruit and “Curritas” for strawberries and berries. These products, along with apples, bananas and oranges, are the commercial pillars of TC Fruits. We focus on adding value to our production, always adapting quickly and efficiently to market needs.
Fructidor: Quality and sustainability are increasingly important issues. How does TC Fruits respond to these challenges?
Pilar González: We are very committed to quality and sustainability. We have food quality certifications such as IFS Food, GLOBAL GAP-Chain of Custody (CoC) and IGP Plátano de Canarias, as well as environmental certifications such as ISO 14001. In addition, we work with ecological and organic production lines, and we promote the consumption of fruits and vegetables through our participation in the “5 a Day” Association. We are also members of AECOC, the Association of Manufacturers and Distributors.
In terms of environmental management, we are committed to the implementation of renewable energies. Our facilities have photovoltaic systems to control electricity consumption, and we are immersed in a process of constant technological innovation, including carbon footprint control and CO2 emissions management in all our facilities.
Fructidor: What are the next steps for TC Fruits?
Pilar González: We remain focused on continuous improvement, both in our operations and in the quality of the service we offer our customers. Constant training of our team and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies are key priorities for us. We want to continue advancing in sustainability and innovation, staying at the forefront of the industry and responding to the needs of the global market.
