The spectacular demonstration of the cereal growers in Paris showed the determination of the sector.
A few days after the demonstration of the cereal growers in Paris, and in front of the mobilization of the entire sector, Nicolas Sarkozy promises new measures.
In a long interview granted in "La France Agricole", the President promises to authorize from the next summer the trucks of 44 tons for the transportation of agricultural and food-processing goods.
Second promise: an agreement to moderate the margins of the mass-market retailing. Nicolas Sarkozy plans to gather representatives of the distributors, farmers and the food-processing industry on May 17th
, to elaborate an agreement more favourable to the producers.
" The distributors will have to sign before summer an agreement of moderation of margins on the sale of fruits and vegetables in store when the prices of fruits and vegetables paid to the producers are in crisis " he said in the interview.
A tax should strike the distributors who will refuse the agreement.
