Mexican berry exports continue to rise

In the first semester of 2022, exports of berries by Mexico totaled 467,153 tons, which means an increase of 8.78% compared to the same period of 2021, when 429,428 tons were exported, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader).
It should be noted that berries are Mexico's main agri-food export product.
From January to June, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and the rest of the unclassified berries had increases in export volume and generated revenues of $2,492 million, with exports to 38 different countries.
Exports of unclassified berries totaled 369 tons, worth $1,471,000, +609% compared to the same period in 2021.
Blueberries registered 58,034 tons worth $513,864,000 (+5.02%).
Strawberry exports amounted to 272,172 tons for $748,843,000 (+3.84%).
Raspberry shipments totaled 79,679 tons for $746,916,000 (+16.13%), and blackberry exports amounted to 56,899 tons, $481,349,000 (+39.09%).
In terms of berry production, Mexico ranks second in the world, just below China, according to Sader.
