A mission in China and Japan for new export potential

Spanish representatives participate in the European Commission mission visiting China and Japan, with the aim of finding new export potential.
The mission is led by the European Agriculture Commissioner, Phil Hogan, who is accompanied by representatives of 44 companies and associations.
European exports of Fruits & Vegetables in China totaled 22,768 tonnes in 2015 or 11% less than in 2014. Of that total, 22,000 tonnes were fruit and kiwi accounted for 10,996 tons. By country, Italy exported 8783 tonnes, Spain 3938 tonnes, France 3548 tonnes, Greece 2052 tons, 1858 tonnes Belgium.
In Japan, exports totaled 7,650 tonnes, 21% more than the previous year. Vegetables accounted for 7,547 tonnes of the total, the chili was the main product exported 4330 tonnes.
The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture signed in Beijing, the Protocol of phytosanitary requirements to allow the export of stone fruit in China. Chinese inspectors are expected in Spain in early June.
