INTERPERA looks at technical solutions and how to develop new markets
INTERPERA, the International Congress of the Pear, has brought together 150 participants in Lerida from important production areas (Europe, Argentina, South Africa).
This fifth meeting, jointly organised by AREFLH and AFRUCAT helps review technical issues and share solutions to create new opportunities in a weak market.
Exchanges could distinguish some keys to develop the sector. The increase in exports to new markets like South America and the United States is an opportunity that has been developed,
and the progression of fruit quality and the expansion of IV categorty ready-to-eat products.
In the middle of a difficult season for producers due to a production deficit, INTERPERA showed that the agreement of various producing countries through country specialization in one or two pear varieties, may thin the competition in the market.
Next year the Congress will expand its horizons even more since it will be held in Argentina, where production is the fourth largest in the world after China, the United States and Italy.
