Kivita, kiwi producer in Rize
The production of Kiwi began in Turkey there are about twenty years. The production is mainly situated along Black Sea and in the South of Istanbul towards Yalova.
The cultivated variety is Haward. The production increases of 20 % each year and reached 14 000 tons in all the country.
The region of Mizé, near Trabzon, products 7000 tons.
The country needs a production of 40 000 tons, thus the internal production is not enough.
Mr Ahmet SAK of the company Kivita explains us that their kiwi has a rate of sugar of 20 to 22 %, the harvest take place at the beginning of November and is cultivated with natural fertilizers.
