Spain, tomato exports -4% in Jan-Sept '07

According to the Spanish Federation of Fruit and Vegetable Producers/Exporters (FEPEX), a total of 672,699 tons of Spanish tomato was exported in the period January-September 2007, which meant a decrease by 4% compared to the same period last year.
The volume of all vegetable exports fell by 6% to a total of 2.6 million tons, due to lower figures for some of the key export vegetables: tomatoes, peppers, lettuces and cabbages. In terms of value, vegetable exports increased by 2% to a total of 2.328 million euros.
On the other side the average vegetable export prices increased by 8% compared to 2006, reaching 0.88 euros/kilo according to Customs’ data processed by FEPEX.
