The asparagus season will start earlier this year.
The asparagus season in Germany could start much earlier this year. Often harvested in April, the first German asparagus could be available by mid-March.
All signals are positive for an early start of the asparagus season according to producer organizations. Climate conditions are favorable and professionals expect constant volumes soon after the start of the season. In Germany the asparagus season is short and traditionally ends on the 24th of June.
Asparagus is one of the most popular vegetables in Germany. Particularly white asparagus with an average consumption of 2 kg (for green asparagus only 0.24 kg).
