The port of Antwerp in net increase

In 2010, the port of Antwerp has set new records.
The port of Antwerp handled 178,168,003 tons of cargo last year, an increase of 12.9% compared to 2009.
Volume of containers has increased by 17.5% (102,539,658 tons).
The TEU (twenty feet equivalent unit) has risen from 15.9% (8,468,475 TEUs).
Ro-ro rose of 16.3% (3,724,781 tons).
The conventional / breakbulk increased of 6.5% (11,128,334 million tons), but is still far below the 2008 level (34.3%).
The volume of bulk cargo is increasing with an increase of 6.8% over the previous year.
In 2010, the number of ships calling at Antwerp has also increased: 14,783 representing an increase of 6.2%. The gross tonnage also increased by 9.1% to 290,386,871 GT.
