Melons season has started in Ukraine

In accordance with the latest data, local fruits and vegetables producers have started shipping off first melons this week in Ukraine. As per recent information, due to hard rains, beginning of the current melons season has been 2 weeks late comparing to the previous year. At the current moment melons prices verify from 0,07 EURO/kg to 0,10 EURO/kg. These numbers are 30% higher comparing to the last year figures. Melons sales are mainly focused on the domestic market of Ukraine at this moment, while in the light of considerable high prices for melons of exporting quality, exporters are not in any hurry to increase purchasing volumes. With reference to the local specialists, Ukrainian fruits and vegetables producers have all the chances to profit from melons exporting to Belorussia and Baltics. Local experts predict nearly double increase of melons sales volumes to the outside market this year.
