Foc R4T detected in banana plantation of Magdalena department

The Fusarium Race 4 Tropical - Foc R4T was detected in a cavendish banana-producing farm, located in the department of Magdalena. This was confirmed by the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The plantation where the fungus was detected has about 108.53 hectares planted with 193.461 plants, of which only one plant was affected.

Rodolfo Zea Navarro, the Minister of Agriculture, reported that the ministry is now coordinating with all the institutions, the mayors and unions, and the necessary actions are being carried out to contain the outbreak.

At the same time, the Association of Banana Growers of Colombia (Augura) stated that in such circumstances it is very important to support small producers in the region in the short, medium and long term.
