The bilberries will be supplied to the United States from September 2007

The United States will open from September the doors to the bilberries produced in Uruguay. Thus it was established last week in the first meeting of the binational commission that analyzes the agreement frame TIFA.
According to the estimations of the Association of Producers of Bilberries in Uruguay, in 2006 Uruguayan growers planted on the area of 500 hectares, which does not mean that they are in production because the majority is implantations of two years back and even of 2005. Uruguay reached last year first crop of 70 tons of fresh bilberries destined to export.
Association of Producers of Bilberries predicts total volume of bilberry export in 2007 at the level of 180 tons of fresh fruit.
